ABSTRACT

Formaldehide-embedded paraffin-fixed specimens from 12 cases with laryngeal papilloma were evaluated for the presence of HPV DNA using in situ hybridization(ISH) and polymerase chain reaction(PCR). Using ISH, nine patients were positive for HPV 6 probe, and six of these were positive for HPV 11 probe. Using PCR, 9 of 12 specimens revealed DNA amplification, and 8 of these were HPV 6. One was HPV 11.
