ABSTRACT

We experienced a relatively rare case of O.M.P.C. with cholesteatoma complicated by cerebellar abscess, epidural abscess, transverse sinus thrombosis, otitic meningitis, Bezold's abscess. A 21 year-old Korean soldier was admitted to this hospital having acute exacerbation of O.M.P.C. and a large Bezold's abscess on right side from 5 days prior to admission. The patient had long past history of O.M.P.C. on right since he was 8 years old. Hospital course of this patient was very eventful. At first emergency radical mastoidectomy with incision and drainage of the Bezold's abscess craniotomy for epidural abscess in right temporal region 10 days later, and finally reopening of the previously operated mastoid for drainage of a cerebellar abscess were performed one month later. On continuous observation the patient is getting along without any noticeable sequelae.
