A Case of Fibrous Dysplasia of the Maxilla

ABSTRACT

The feature of fibrous dysplasia is the involvement of one or several bones of the skeletal system as well as cutaneous pigmentation, premature skeletal maturation or precocious puberty may be present. A 26-year-old male was admitted to the hospital on January 15, 1968 with chief compaints of swelling of right cheek with slight tenderness for 5 years duration. Physical examination revealed a small egg sized mass at the right maxillary region. X-ray study of the paranasal sinuses disclosed increased density of the right maxillary area. Complete extirpation of tumor mass carried out and postoperative course was uneventiful. Histopathological examination revealed fibrous dysplasia.
