ABSTRACT

The author is reporting a case of foreign body, several pieces of a shellfish, in the esophagus of a 80 years old, obese female. She was hospitalized for 3 days before removal of the foreign body in order to control her hypertension (220/120) and to wait for the subsidence of the swelling of her throat produced by erroneous effort to remove the foreign body by herself. The esophagoscopic removal of the shellfish pieces was cautiously carried out under general anesthesia.
