A Case of so Called Primary Tuberculosis of the Mastoid

ABSTRACT

A 2 year old girl came in the hospital on Nov. 20, 1970 having the preoperative diagnosis of the right chronic suppurative otitis media. Operative findings of the mastoid showed irregular bony destruction and filled with easy bleeding granulation tissue. Tubercle bacilli were found by smear and culture and also histopathological study resulted in tuberculous finding. Antituberculous drugs were administrated postoperatively and wound was healed 9 months after operation. This case was clinically supposed as primary tuberculosis of the mastoid.
