ABSTRACT

Recently, the author experienced a case of rare aberrant thyroid in the neck. The patient, 27 years old woman, had a slowly enlarging mass in the right side of thyroid cartilage for 5 years. There were no other symptoms. Examination disclosed a 4 by 5 centimeter mass in the right neck, just on the level of the thyroid cartilage. Surgical resection was done, which revealed follicular adenoma of thyroid, macrofollicular type microscopically. Post-operative thyroid scanning showed normal thyroid shadow in her anterior neck.
