A Case of Small Lymphocytic Lymphoma on Palatine Tonsil

ABSTRACT

Lymphoma is a cancer of non-epithelial origin arising in lymphatic tissue. Lymphoma may arise in practically any organ or gland, and spread to the any area of the body. In about 20%, lymphoid structure of the oropharynx or tonsils or nasopharynx are involved. Although malignant lymphoma is the second most common primary malignant tumor of the tonsil, it is a rare disease. It occurs in the 3rd to 5th decades of life and males slightly more than females. Clinically, tonsillar lymphoma is characterized by marked hypertrophy of one side of the tonsil without presenting an ulceration. A case of small lymphocytic lymphoma involves in both sides of the palatine tonsils which occurred in a 41-years old who had chief complaint of sore throat, nasal obstruction and mouth breathing for 1 month. This is the report of the small lymphocytic lymphoma on palatine tonsils with reivew of the literatures.
