ABSTRACT |
Tuberculosis otitis media is one of the rare granulomatous disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. It has been reported to occur mostly in association with tuberculosis of some other tissue especially the lung. The common clinical findings are insidious onset of painless watery otorrhea, varying degree of hearing loss, perforation of tympanic membrane, subsequent apperance of profuse granulation tissue, and otologic complication. We experienced one case of pathologically confirmed middle ear tuberculosis associated with pulmonary tuberculosis. The patient was 21 years old female who has been suffered from both hearing impairment and both mucopurulent otorrea since 1 year ago. We performed radical mastoidectomy with good results. |
