ABSTRACT

The distribution of total serum IgE levels and the percentage of peripheral blood eosinophil were examined in 20 healthy subjects and 20 patients with nasal polyp. Serum IgE was determined by paper radioimmunosorbent test. The results are summarized as follows : 1) The serum IgE of Korean normal subjects was 113.6 I.U./ml, which was close to that of Japanese, but higher than that of Americans. 2) The serum IgE levels of patients with nasal polyp showed a similar distribution to that of healthy subjects. 3) The percentage of peripheral blood eosinophilia was 25% in patients with nasal polyp and 10% in normal subjects. 4) The serum IgE levels in normal subjects were similarly distributed between male and female, and smoker and non-smoker.
