A Case of Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the Middle Ear

A 22-year-old Korean male was visited to Seoul Red Cross Hospital because of right ear otorrhea for 10 years. Five to six months prior to this visit, otalgia, retroauricular swelling, right acial nerve palsy, and headache were noted, and the right ear canal was filled with granulation tissue, temporal bone X-ray revealed bony destruction, computerized axial tomography showed bony destruction of petrous pyramid and occipitial bone, and result of biopsy ear granulation tissue was squamous cell carcinoma of the middle ear. He was treated with radical mastoidectomy and radiation therapy. But 3 months later, retroauricular swelling, otalgia, and otorrhea were reappeared, and general condition became worse than before. At last, he was expired at 7 months after first visit.
