ABSTRACT

Toxic shock syndrome(TSS) is newly indentified illness that was first described in 1978 in seven 8 to 17-year old children by Todd et al.. It is characterized by sudden onset of high fever, vomiting, diarrhea, myaigia, syncope, hypotension, shock, erythematous ""sun-burn"" like rash followed by desquamation of the skin and laboratory evidence of multiorgan system dysfunction. Usually TSS occurs primarily in young menstruating women and thought to be associated with the use of vaginal tampon. But also similar disease caused by nasal or sinus packing are reported. Recently we experienced a case of TSS due to sinus packing after C-L operation with transantral ethmoidectomy, so we report a case of TSS with review of literature.
