ABSTRACT |
Authors report 2 cases of Myasthenia Gravis. Myasthenia Gravis is a disorder of neuromuscular junction due to a defect in synthesis or storage of acetylcholine at the nerve endings characterized by weakness and abnormal fatigability of skeletal muscles. Muscles of the neck, trunk and extremities innervated by cranial verves are particularly affected. The muscle weakness is characteristically worse after effort and improved by rest. In severe cases weakness of muscles of respiration occurs. This disease usually becomes generalized, but it can be rarely localized. The symptoms are commonly ameliorated by anticholinesterase compounds. This response serves as the basis for diagnosis and management of the disease. Even in the reported cases, all symptoms have been improved markedly with the administration of cholinergic drugs.
