When a foreign body is lodged in the esophagus of a patient, an appropriate management should be applied according to the nature of the swallowed object and underlyng causes. Prompt endoscopic removal is recommended because of its relative safety compared with that of other methods. But in case of multiple esophageal stricture with obstruction by swallowed foreign bodies, it is often very difficult to remove the foreign bodies with the rigid esophagoscopy. Recently we experienced one case of esophageal foreign body impacted in distal esophageal stricture and failed to remove the foreign body with esophagoscopy. So we introduced basket extration method and removed foreign body impacted in distal stricture with Medi-Tech biliary basket under fluoroscopic guidance sucessfully. We report the case with review of literature.
