The Study of the Vestibular Function Tests in Different Age Groups

ABSTRACT

To study the changes of vestibular functions with the age, 60 healthy subjects were chosen randomly. Test methods used were the goniometer, gait and stepping test for vestibulospinal reflex. The following results were obtained. : 1) Goniometer test ; The angle of falling decreased with the increasing age(p<0.05), but there were no differences between the sexes(p>0.05). 2) Gait test ; No changes were obtained on the distance of deviation with aging or the sexes(p>0.05), also the side of deviation had no relationship to the handness(p>0.05). 3) Stepping test ; No changes occurred with the distance of deviation and the angle of rotation with aging or sexes(p>0.05), also the side of rotation had no relationship to the handness(p>0.05).
