ABSTRACT

For many years, the otolaryngologist has relied mainly on diagnostic radiologic procedures in assessment of diseases of paranasal sinuses. Recently a new diagnostic imaging modality, diagnostic ultrasound, has come into vogue. For the evaluation of diagnostic capacity of ultrasound in maxillary sinus diseases, clinical study was carried out in 82 selected cases, showed radiologic opacification of maxillary sinuses. We note that A-mode ultrasound is simple, reliable, non-invasive useful diagnostic tool, with no complication, in the evaluation of maxillary sinus diseases.
