ABSTRACT

Recently, we encountered with metallic foreign body in the right orbit. Foreign body in this space is very unusual and only rarely are reported in the literatures of otolaryngologic field. In this case, an air- gun bullet was penetrated into the right orbit through the right side of nostril, inferior turbinate, middle meatus and ethmoid sinus. This accident resulted in visual loss because of avulsion of optic nerve without injury of other adjacent structures. It was successfully removed under fluoroscopic guide after right intranasal ethmoidectomy.
