ABSTRACT |
Squamous cell carcinoma of the lower lip is the most common tumor of the lower lip. After resection of squamous cell carcinoma, successful reconstruction of the lower lip is a difficult problem and many different procedures for this operation has been developed but they may be classified into three broad categories ; 1) Stein-Abbe-Estlander Principle. 2) Gillies fan-flap principle. 3) Burow-Bernard principle. The ideal procedures of reconstruction of lower lip should produce a normal looking, not-too tight lip, with a vermillion border, an adequate sulcus, good sensation and good muscle tone. Recently authors have satisfactorily reconstructed a total loss of the lower lip after resection of cancer using the classic Gillies fan-flap and McGregor modified fan-flap procedures, and the cases are presented with reviewing the literatures.
