ABSTRACT

Recently, there has been increasing tendency of facial trauma as a result of uprising traffic accident. In facial trauma, injuries of the parotid duct have been reported in a few cases. There are some complications coming from indifference and ignorance of them when we see such a patient in the emergency management. Because Stensen's duct is located on a line drawn from the tragus to mid-point of columella, the duct laceration should be suspected in all cheek wound located lateral to a vertical line from the pupil and inferior to a line drawn horizontally at the level of the tragus. Recently, authors experienced a case of transection of Stensen's duct due to traffic accident and its repair under operating microscope. The results were excellent. So we report this case with brief review of literatures.
