Hearing loss was a common finding in chronic renal failure patient. In order to evaluate the degree and type of hearing loss, and influence of hemodialysis with chronic renal failure, 33 patients undergoing chronic hemodialysis were examined. The results were as follows : 1) In 15 of 33(45%) hemodialysis patients, hearing loss was developed. 2) In 6 of 33(18%) hemodialysis patients, clinically significant moderate hearing loss was developed. 3) Hearing loss was bilateral, sensori-neural type and audiometry in chronic renal failure revealed a marked hearing loss for the frequencies between 2000 and 8000 Hz. 4) There was no significant alteration of hearing acuity after hemodialysis. 5) The incidence of hearing loss was proportional to number of hemodialysis.
