As data manipulation of patient informations are becoming more and more complex, an introduction of computer systems is required for rapid and accurate processing of medical records. For an application of computer systems in otolaryngologic field, a formation of plan to standardize data should be established. Recently we developed a data management systems for admitted patients and discovered follow problems inherent in medical recording systems. 1) Understandings of basic concepts about the computer. 2) standardization of medical terminology. 3) Active communication among the program users and mutual helps in standardizing data. Following advantages can be obtained if computer system is provided. 1) Rapid and accurate assessment of clinical information about the managent of patients. 2) Statistical and epidemiological analysis of medical records. 3) Estimation of residency program. 4) Scientific approach to medical planning of patient management.
