ABSTRACT

The ultrastructure of the respiratory nasal mucosa in patients with perennial allergic rhinitis was studied and compared with healthy human mucosa. Nasal biopsies were taken at the area 1cm posterior from anterior end of the inferior turbinate. Our results were that epithelial damage was certainly present in perennial allergic rhinitis although the severity of epithelial damage could be different according to the duration of disease and total amounts of inhaled allergens.
