ABSTRACT

Teamwork between the head and neck surgeon and the neurosurgeon utilizing the craniofacial resection technique greatly extends the frontiers of surgery for tumors of the anterior skull base. Tumors for which this technique may be used include benign and malignant tumors arising in the frontal bone, nasal vault, orbit or paranasal sinuses. Four cases of anterior skull base lesion were treated by craniofacial resection from Jul. 1989 to Feb. 1990 in our department. In this paper, preoperative tumor extents, operative procedures, and follow-up data were presented. The short term results were encouraging.
