ABSTRACT

Tuberculosis is a diminishing disease with the development of antituberculous medication, however, it is still an infectious disease of great proportion in Korea. Primary tuberculosis of the parotid gland is rare and was first reported by De-Paoli in 1893. The diagnosis of primary tuberculosis of the parotid gland is difficult preoperatively and is frequently misdiagnosed with benign mixed tumor. Recently the authors have experienced one case of primary tuberculosis of the parotid gland and reported the surgical excision result which was enclosed. A review of the literature was also carried out.
