ABSTRACT

The nasopharyngeal angiofibroma is a rare benign vascular tumor that usually develops in young males and frequent nasal bleeding and nasal obstruction are its common symptoms. Complete surgical removal is the choice of treatment but vascular nature of the tumor often results in massive hemorrhage during operation. Recently, we experienced 3 cases of nasopharyngeal angiofibroma that were treated by surgical excision with preoperative embolization. The amount of intraoperative blood loss was about 770cc and it considered that the use of preoperative embolization in nasopharyngeal angiofibroma facilitate complete surgical removal.
