ABSTRACT

A method of repairing free vascularized jejunal graft in uppper pharyngo-jejunal anastomosis has been used in three hypopharyngeal tumor patients with wide invasion of the oropharynx. The jejunum island flap is transferred to the neck, the upper end of the jejunum was made to blind pouch and anti-mesenteric border of the jejunum near the upper end was opened to fit the circumference of the beveled defect of the pharynx. Upper anastomosis was made with end to side fashion (L-shaped loop) and lower anastomosis was made with end to end one. No failure of the graft occured. All patients enjoy their general diet. The effectiveness of this technique was satisfactory. The procedure and technique, result are discussed.
