ABSTRACT

Isolated paralysis of the soft palate is an entity of unknown cause which resolves spontaneously and affects mainly male children unilaterally. However, only one case of bilateral paralysis of the soft palate was recently repoted in an adult. Viral and vascular hypothesis have been proposed in order to explain its genesis. The authors report a case of isolated bilateral paralysis of the soft palate in an adult with review of literature.
