ABSTRACT

Chondrosarcoma is a rare malignant tumor that can be noted in either bony or cartilagenous system. The common sites are pelvis, sternum and long bone. Chondrosarcoma arising in the head and neck region is very rare. The symptoms and sings are variable according to the anatomical location. Wide surgical resection offers the primary treatment modality and can be combined with radiation therapy or chemotherapy. The prognosis of chondrosarocoma is generally worse than that of other sarcoma, and it's prognosis depends on the anatomical location of the tumor, tumor resectability and cytologic differentiation. The autors experienced a case of huge chondrosarcoma of nasal cavity in 53-year old woman, and resected the mass successfully via midfacial degloving approach without significant complication.
