ABSTRACT

A case of intractable laryngeal stenosis due to lye ingestion which was dilated with specially made plastic resin mold is presented. The patient ingested lye for suicidal attempt and developed the laryngeal stenosis at the posterior wall with epiglottis adhesion. But the esophagus was intact after a few weeks from lye ingestion. Conservative dilatation after tracheostomy was unfavorable. Insertion of the specially made plastic resin mold in the larynx for 3 months brought good result and the patient is enjoying normal life so far.
