ABSTRACT

Calculi are common disease in the salivary glands and ducts. Eighty to ninety percent of salivary calculi occur with submandibular gland and duct, and ten percent occur in parotid gland duct. The authors have recently experienced a case of multiple calculi on the left parotid gland. A 14 year old boy visited our clinic with complaints of red bean sized hard mass and swelling on the left parotid region and cheek. Plain AP and lateral mandibular view and parotid sialogram revealed multiple radiopaque densities within the left parotid gland and duct, and soft tissue swelling on the left jaw. The five grayish white colored calculi were removed by superficial parotidectomy Two were larger as measured 0.5×0.5×0.4cm, the remainders were small.
