ABSTRACT

For several years the two-component fibrin glue has been widely adopted in surgical procedure of otolaryngologic field. The biochemical mechanisms and biological properties are well known. But the problem is the fact that transmission of some viral disease would be possible. Recently the disadvantage of fibrin glue was overcome due to development of autologous one. This paper reports a general survey of our experience with autologous fibrin gule(AFG) in the last 3 years. The obtained results were as follows ; 1) 70% saturated Ammonium Sulfate was more effective to use. 2) Quality control was achieved through centrifugation process. 3) Take rate of grafted fascia was same in AFG and non-AFG group. 4) AFG was ideal gluing material in attic reconstruction. 5) Mixture of AFG and Gelfoam was most suitable as a packing material of external auditory canal.
