ABSTRACT

The author has experienced recently a case of papillary adenocarcinoma of the left external ear canal. A 50 year old woman visited to our hospital on Nov. 20, 1978 with complaints of left severe otalgia and otorrhea, which was developed since 1 month ago. The local finding showed globular hard mass in the external ear canal so tympanic membrane couldn't visualized. Other otolaryngologic findings were within normal limits. X-ray findings of the mastoid showed normal. Wide excision of cartilagenous and bony portion containing the mass was performed and skin graft was done in the defect portion. The size of the mass was about 1.0×2.0×1.5cm. No regional lymph node was palpable. The histopathological diagnosis was papillary adenocarcinoma of the external ear canal.
